A Conference in honor of John D. Woodbridge
Hosted by TEDS in honor of John Woodbridge, this conference addressed historical aspects of evangelical mission from both Western and Majority World perspectives. Dr. Woodbridge has been Research Professor of Church History and the History of Christian Thought since 1970 and author or editor of more than fifteen books. He is also former senior editor of Christianity Today.
The conference brought together church leaders with an interest in missions and the role of the church through history and cross-culturally today in the Americas, Asia and Africa. Conference presenters included Dr. Timothy George, Dr. Glenn Sunshine, John Hinkson, Dr. Brad Gundlach, Dr. Tom Nettles, Dr. Fred Beauttler, Dr. Daniel Salinas, Dr. Rick Cook and Dr. Tite Tiénou.
A Feschrift was published in 2007 as a result of this conference. The Great Commission was written by eleven prominent evangelical church historians and theologians, providing a thorough historical survey of evangelical missions, edited by Martin Klauber and Scott M Manetsch and published by Broadman and Holman.
