August 13-15, 2008 | Conference in Nairobi, Kenya
Partnership in Theological Education in Africa

This conference led by Dr. Tite Tienou (TEDS) in partnership with Dr. Douglas Carew (TEDS Ph.D. '00) of Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (NEGST), will focus on theological education in Africa. Over three days, faculty and graduate students from NEGST and TEDS (together with invited participants from selected institutions in Africa) will seek through discussion and prayer to plan for the future of their partnerships in theological training.

In an age when economic structures and mass media have created a 'globalized' world, the church too has become a genuinely 'globalized' community. The challenges brought by this new context call for mutual edification among both Western and Majority Church leaders. The body of Christ needs to benefit from the gifts and experiences given by the Holy Spirit to all of God's people. This is particularly true for those who train leadership in our theological seminaries. Yet, the conversation between Western institutions and those in other parts of the world have too often been one-way conversations owing to Western financial and military dominance. How can the church foster genuine collaboration between Western and Majority Church schools? Leaders from TEDS and a host of African theological schools will meet in August to work together on this question.
