International Conferences

Thanks to the generous financial support of G. Walter Hansen, the Henry Center sponsors international partnership conferences with church and seminary leaders in Majority Church regions of the world. These conferences bring together local leaders, scholars, experts and international participants for the purpose of developing strategic ministry partnerships.

PAST EVENTS


July 21-23, 2010 | Conference in Tokyo, Japan

    Suffering and Hope in Jesus Christ: Christological Polarity and Religious Pluralism
    Led by Dr. Harold Netland (TEDS) and Dr. Takanori Kobayashi (Tokyo Christian University), the Center conducted a working conference on Christology and religious pluralism. Ten scholars from Japan, Korea, Great Britain, Australia and the United States presented original papers on pain and suffering, victory and hope as they relate to the person of Christ in a globalized and pluralized world.

August 13-15, 2008 Conference in Nairobi, Kenya

    Partnership in Theological Education in Africa
    Led by Dr. Tite Tiénou (TEDS) in partnership with Dr. Douglas Carew (TEDS Ph.D. ’00) of Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (NEGST), this conference focused on the development of theological education in Africa and the forging of a working partnership between TEDS and NEGST. African leaders from such schools as Faculte de Theologie Evangelique de l’Alliance Chretienne, Ethiopian Graduate School of Theology, and Theological College of Central Africa attended.

May 29-31, 2008 | Conference in Hong Kong, China

    Beyond Our Past: Bible, Cultural Identity, and the Global Evangelical Movement
    Led by Dr. David Pao (TEDS) and Dr. Rick Cook (TEDS) in partnership with Evangel Seminary (Hong Kong, China) and China Evangelical Seminary (Taipei, Taiwan), this conference drew hundreds of students, pastors, and laypeople for cutting-edge discussion on the relationship between the Bible and evangelical identity in global settings. Scholars came from TEDS, Evangel, Alliance Bible Seminary, China Graduate School of Theology, Christar (India), and Beeson Divinity School, among others.

August 2-4, 2006 | Conference in Lima, Peru

    Short-term Missions: Experiences and Perspectives
    Led by Dr. Robert J. Priest (TEDS) in partnership with Dr. Tito Paredes and Facultad Evangélica Orlando E. Costas (Lima, Peru), this conference focused on the topic of short-term mission and its impact on hosting countries. The conference included over 170 pastors, scholars, teachers, church leaders, community members, as well as TEDS students and administrators.
